I work as a volunteer with smfs and on more than one occassion I have worked with andy currie who was a lovely guy. Andy was telling all that he used to umpire the throwing events. In commonwealth and highland games events. During the commonwealth game’s in Edinburgh in 1970he was just going to measure fatima whitbreads javelin throw. Unfortunately for andy it had been belting down with a rain and andy slipped and skidded about 20 feet along a massive puddle and I believe it can be seen on tv somewhere. Andy told us fatima said she just prayed that she had not hit him .
